What is Cognism?

Cognism is a B2B sales intelligence platform for finding and enriching contacts and companies, with compliance and suppression controls designed to support GDPR/CCPA-safe prospecting. With Konnectify, you can operationalize Cognism data in downstream systems (CRM, sales engagement, data warehouses) while keeping redemption credits and opt-out rules under control.

Typical use cases include prospect list building, lead enrichment, compliance checks before outreach, and selective redemption of high-intent contacts to manage credit spend.

What you can automate
• Search for contacts using filters (title, industry, geography)
• Search for accounts/companies and collect redeem IDs
• Enrich an existing lead/contact to obtain a redeem ID
• Redeem full contact profiles (credits apply) when needed
• Check global opt-outs before any outreach action
• Read entitlement maps to build workflows aligned to your plan

API & Authentication

Authentication: API Key (credentials)
This connector uses an API Key provided by Cognism. In Konnectify, you’ll paste the key once when creating the Cognism connection. Konnectify stores it securely and uses it to authenticate API requests on your behalf.
Required field: API Key
What the Cognism API is used for in this integration
  • Search contacts and accounts without consuming credits
  • Enrich known contacts/companies to obtain Cognism identifiers and redeem IDs
  • Redeem full contact profiles (credit-based) and full account profiles (no credits)
  • Retrieve field entitlement maps to understand which data fields are available under your subscription
  • Fetch and check opt-out status (GDPR/CCPA compliance)
Important: plan entitlements, credits, and rate limits
  • Contact redemption consumes credits (1 credit per unique contact redeemed). Search and enrich do not consume credits.
  • Field availability varies by plan. Use the entitlement actions to avoid mapping fields you don’t have access to.
  • API rate limits may apply depending on your Cognism plan. If you see throttling, reduce concurrency, add delays, or paginate with cursors where supported.

How to connect

Prerequisites
  • An active Cognism subscription with API access enabled
  • A Cognism API Key with permission to search/enrich/redeem and read opt-out lists
  • A Konnectify account and a workflow where you want to use Cognism actions
1

Add Cognism to a Workflow

  1. Create or open a workflow in Konnectify.
  2. Click Add step and choose Cognism.
2

Authorize via API Key authentication

  1. Select Add new connection.
  2. Paste your Cognism API Key and save.
3

Configure the Action

  1. Choose the Cognism action you want to run (e.g., Search Contacts, Enrich Account).
  2. Map inputs from earlier steps (e.g., email, domain, LinkedIn URL) as needed.
  3. If the action supports pagination (cursor), configure limits to control volume.
Credit-sensitive step
Redeem Contacts consumes credits (1 per unique contact). Use Search/Enrich first to narrow down results, and redeem only the contacts you truly need.
4

Test the Workflow

  1. Run a test with a known email/domain/LinkedIn URL.
  2. Confirm the output fields match your Cognism entitlements.
5

Activate the Workflow

  1. Turn on the workflow.
  2. Monitor initial runs for rate limits and credit usage.

Triggers 0

This connector does not currently provide triggers. Use Cognism actions within workflows triggered by other apps (e.g., CRM updates, form submissions) to search/enrich/redeem data and perform compliance checks.

Actions 11

Use actions to search, enrich, redeem, check opt-outs, and validate which fields your subscription can access before mapping data into downstream systems.

Contacts 4 actions
Search Contacts

Search the Cognism database for contacts using filters like job title, company, industry, location, and more. Returns a list of contact previews with a redeemId for each. No credits are charged for searching.

Redeem Contacts

Retrieve full contact profiles — including mobile/direct phone numbers, verified emails, DNC status, and compliance data — using redeemId values returned from Search or Enrich. One credit is consumed per unique contact redeemed.

Enrich Contact

Match an existing contact record using known identifiers such as email address, LinkedIn URL, or full name and company. Returns a contact preview and a redeemId. Enrichment is free — credits are only consumed when you subsequently use Redeem Contacts.

Get Contact Entitlement Details

Retrieve a true/false map of all contact data fields available under your Cognism subscription. Use this to determine which contact fields your account is entitled to access before building workflows.

Accounts 4 actions
Search Accounts

Search the Cognism database for companies using filters like industry, size, country, revenue, and technology stack. Returns account previews with a redeemId. No credits are charged for searching.

Redeem Accounts

Retrieve full company profiles — including technologies, revenue, headcount, and descriptions — using redeemId values from Search or Enrich. No credits are charged for account redemption.

Enrich Account

Match and enrich an existing company record using known identifiers such as company name, domain, or LinkedIn URL. Returns a company preview and a redeemId. Enrichment is free — credits are not charged.

Get Account Entitlement Details

Retrieve a true/false map of all company/account data fields available under your Cognism subscription. Use this to determine which account fields your account is entitled to access.

Opt-Outs 3 actions
Get Opt-Out List

Retrieve all contacts who have opted out from your Cognism account. Use this list to ensure GDPR and CCPA compliance by honouring opt-out requests before initiating outreach. This endpoint does not charge credits.

Check Opt-Out by Email

Check the opt-out status of a specific email address. Use this before sending any outreach to verify GDPR/CCPA compliance. This endpoint does not charge credits.

Check Opt-Out by ID

Check the opt-out status of a contact using their Cognism contact ID. Use this before sending outreach to verify GDPR/CCPA compliance. This endpoint does not charge credits.

Tip: Build a “compliance gate” step that checks opt-out before any downstream action (email, sequence enrollment, dialer).

Popular automations

Example workflow patterns you can build with Cognism actions in Konnectify (using triggers from your CRM, forms, or internal tools).

Enrich new inbound leads, then redeem only qualified contacts

When a lead is created in your CRM, enrich with Cognism to get a preview and redeem ID, then redeem full details only after qualification to control credit spend.

CRM: New/Updated Lead (external trigger) Enrich Contact Redeem Contacts

Build an account list, then enrich each account profile

Search Cognism for ICP-matching companies and redeem full account profiles (no credit charge) for routing, scoring, or enrichment in your CRM.

Scheduler/Manual run (external trigger) Search Accounts Redeem Accounts

Compliance gate before outreach

Before enrolling someone into a sequence, verify they are not opted out. If opted out, route to suppression handling; otherwise continue.

Sales tool: Before enroll (external trigger) Check Opt-Out by Email

Entitlement-aware field mapping

Retrieve entitlement maps first to dynamically decide which fields to map into your CRM (avoids workflow errors and missing fields in lower plans).

FAQ

How does authentication work for Cognism in Konnectify?
Cognism uses API Key authentication for this connector. Create or retrieve an API key in Cognism, then paste it into the Cognism connection form in Konnectify. Konnectify uses that key to authenticate each API request.
Which Cognism plans are supported?
Any plan that includes API access can be used. Data availability differs by subscription—use Get Contact Entitlement Details and Get Account Entitlement Details to confirm which fields you can access.
How do triggers work for this integration (polling vs webhooks)?
This connector provides no native Cognism triggers at this time. Start workflows from other apps (CRM updates, form submissions, scheduled runs), then call Cognism actions to search/enrich/redeem and check opt-outs.
Does this integration support upserts or duplicate prevention?
Cognism actions here focus on search/enrich/redeemrather than creating/upserting records in Cognism. To prevent duplicates downstream, use a unique identifier strategy such as:
  • Use Enrich Contact by email/LinkedIn URL to match a single person before redeeming.
  • Store and reuse Cognism IDs/redeem IDs in your CRM to avoid redeeming the same contact multiple times.
What happens if we hit Cognism rate limits?
If Cognism throttles requests, Konnectify may retry depending on the workflow settings. Best practices:
  • Prefer cursor-enabled search actions to paginate gradually instead of pulling large result sets at once.
  • Reduce concurrency and add delays between batches in downstream steps.
  • Redeem selectively (credits + API load) rather than redeeming all search results.
Can I connect multiple Cognism accounts to Konnectify?
Yes. Create separate Cognism connections in Konnectify, each with its own API key. This is useful for different business units, regions, or environments, and also separates credit usage by Cognism account.
How do “Search”, “Enrich”, and “Redeem” differ (and when are credits charged)?
  • Search Contacts / Search Accounts: discovery using filters; returns previews and redeemId. No credits.
  • Enrich Contact / Enrich Account: match a known record (email, domain, LinkedIn URL, name/company) to get a preview and redeemId. No credits.
  • Redeem Contacts: retrieves full contact details (phones, verified emails, compliance flags). Consumes 1 credit per unique contact.
  • Redeem Accounts: retrieves full company details. No credits for account redemption.
