Custom OAuth 2.0 Connection

Dropbox uses a custom OAuth 2.0 flow to establish a secure connection with Konnectify. During setup, you will provide your Dropbox App Key (Client ID) and App Secret (Client Secret) from your registered developer application. This custom configuration ensures that Konnectify can securely access your specific Dropbox space to manage file uploads and downloads on your behalf, without ever seeing or storing your master Dropbox password.

Required Scopes: Your developer app needs account_info.read, files.content.write, and files.content.read permissions configured in the Dropbox Developer Console.

App Plan & Permissions Note

Ensure your Dropbox account has permission to create custom developer applications. If you are on an Enterprise team, your administrator may need to approve developer app creation before you can generate your Client ID and Client Secret.

How to Connect

Prerequisites:

A Dropbox account with access to the Dropbox Developer Console.
A registered Custom App with App Key and App Secret.
Enabled files.content.write and files.content.read scopes.

Add Dropbox to a Workflow

Log in to your Konnectify dashboard.
Open an existing workflow or click "Create Workflow".
Search for "Dropbox" in the app library and drag it into your canvas.

Authorize via Custom OAuth

Click "Connect New Account" on the Dropbox block.
Enter your Dropbox App Key in the Client ID field.
Enter your Dropbox App Secret in the Client Secret field.
Click "Authorize" to open the Dropbox permission window and confirm the connection.

Configure the Action

Select your desired file management action (e.g., Upload File).
Map your source file content (Base64 data or a public URL) to the configuration fields.
Define the target Dropbox folder path.

Target Path Formatting:

Always start your folder path with a forward slash (e.g., /Documents/Invoices) and verify that the target directory permissions permit write operations.

Test the Workflow

Click "Test Step" within the Konnectify workflow editor.
Verify that the test file successfully appears in your Dropbox folder or is retrieved as expected.

Activate the Workflow

Toggle the workflow status to "Active".
