API & Authentication
Secure API Key Authentication
ShipStation utilizes API Key authentication to establish a secure connection with Konnectify. By generating an API Key and API Secret, you grant Konnectify secure permission to manage shipments, retrieve carrier rates, and print labels automatically, without ever sharing or exposing your primary account login credentials.
Connection Requirements
To authenticate, you will need your ShipStation API Key and API Secret. These can be generated in your ShipStation dashboard by navigating to Settings > Account > API Settings. Ensure your ShipStation subscription plan includes developer API access.
For comprehensive details regarding endpoints and capabilities, please refer to the official ShipStation API Documentation.
How to Connect
Prerequisites: Ensure you have active admin access to your ShipStation account and that your API credentials have been generated and copied from your account dashboard.
Add ShipStation to a Workflow
Navigate to your Konnectify dashboard, create a new workflow, and select ShipStation from the application library.
Authorize via API Credentials
Paste your ShipStation API Key and API Secret into the designated authorization fields, then click Connect to establish the secure link.
Configure the Action
Choose from the 70 available actions. Map the incoming data fields from your trigger step (such as customer name, address, and product details) to the corresponding fields in ShipStation.
Note on Format Mapping
Ensure that customer addresses mapped to ShipStation contain valid postal codes and country abbreviations to prevent carrier-level label generation failures.
Test the Workflow
Execute a test run in Konnectify to verify that data flows correctly and that the action successfully registers in your ShipStation dashboard.
Activate the Workflow
Once tested successfully, activate your workflow to begin processing your shipments, labels, and tracking updates in real time automatically.
Triggers 0
This integration is action-oriented and currently focuses on executing shipping, label generation, and order management tasks. It does not contain direct inbound triggers. To initiate a shipping workflow, you can trigger from your e-commerce store (such as Shopify or WooCommerce), CRM, or inventory management system, and use ShipStation actions to complete the fulfillment process.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does ShipStation authenticate with Konnectify?
▾
ShipStation utilizes an API Key and API Secret generated from your ShipStation dashboard. This secure, credential-based connection ensures Konnectify can safely manage shipments and retrieve carrier rates without needing to store or access your primary ShipStation account password.
Which ShipStation plans support API integration?
▾
API access is available on most active ShipStation subscription plans. Please verify within your ShipStation Account Settings under the API Settings tab to confirm that your specific subscription tier has developer API access enabled.
Are ShipStation actions executed in real time?
▾
Yes. When Konnectify triggers a ShipStation action—such as "Purchase Label" or "Create Shipment"—the request is sent directly to ShipStation's API and executed immediately, allowing you to print labels and update order statuses in real time.
How does ShipStation handle duplicate shipments?
▾
To prevent duplicate shipping records, you can use the "Get Shipment by External ID" action to check if a shipment already exists using your custom order or transactional reference ID before attempting to create a new one.
What are the rate limits for the ShipStation API?
▾
ShipStation enforces standard rate limits (typically 40 requests per minute per API Key). If your workflows exceed these limits, Konnectify automatically queues and retries your requests to ensure no data or labels are lost during peak shipping hours.
Can I connect multiple ShipStation accounts to Konnectify?
▾
Yes. You can authorize and connect multiple ShipStation accounts or regional locations to Konnectify by establishing separate connections, each configured with its respective API Key and API Secret.
How do shipping rules work with purchased labels?
▾
By utilizing the "Purchase Label with Shipping Rule" action, ShipStation automatically evaluates your pre-configured dashboard automation settings (such as selecting the cheapest carrier or fastest service) to generate and print the optimal label dynamically.
