What is GoCardless?

GoCardless is a specialized global payment network that simplifies direct debit transactions, making it easy to collect both recurring and one-off payments straight from your customers' bank accounts. By connecting GoCardless with Konnectify, your business can automate administrative billing tasks, align customer authorization flows with your CRM, and process payments dynamically based on milestones met in other business applications.

What you can automate with GoCardless on Konnectify:
• Create pre-authorized customer bank mandates immediately when contracts are signed.
• Initiate direct debit payment collection requests automatically as invoices are finalized.
• Verify customer mandate authorization statuses before running scheduled billing runs.
• Reconcile payment statuses in real-time within your internal databases.
• Synchronize bank account authorization records to keep customer billing profiles current.
• Route transaction identifiers into reporting tools for automated financial auditing.

API & Authentication

Secure OAuth 2.0 Connection

To establish a secure integration, GoCardless utilizes an OAuth 2.0 authorization framework paired with your unique Client ID and Client Secret. This security layer ensures that your credentials remain hidden, allowing Konnectify to securely interact with the GoCardless API to manage mandates and payments on your behalf.

You can locate your Client ID and Client Secret inside your GoCardless Developer Dashboard under the API Credentials tab.

Sandbox vs. Production Environments

GoCardless maintains separate credentials for sandbox testing and live production environments. Ensure you use production credentials when activating live billing workflows, as sandbox credentials will fail to connect on live payment runs.

For comprehensive API specifications and environment guidelines, visit the official GoCardless Developer Documentation.

How to Connect

Prerequisites:
  • An active GoCardless merchant account (Sandbox or Production).
  • Your GoCardless Client ID and Client Secret.
  • An active Konnectify account.
1

Add GoCardless to a Workflow

Open your Konnectify visual workflow builder, click "Add App", and select GoCardless from the billing application library.

2

Authorize Connection

Input your GoCardless Client ID and Client Secret in the connection modal. Click "Connect" to prompt the secure GoCardless portal, and authorize the integration permissions.

3

Configure Action Mappings

Choose your GoCardless action step and map fields dynamically (such as customer reference, values, and currency) from previous triggers in your workflow.

Setup Check:

Double-check that bank mandate references are dynamically mapped rather than hardcoded to prevent payment failures.

4

Run a Connection Test

Trigger a test run inside Konnectify to verify that GoCardless successfully records the mandate or registers the payment parameter without error.

5

Activate Workflow

Toggle your automated workflow to "Active" to begin running live, hands-free direct debit configurations.

Triggers 0

Action-Focused Connector

This integration currently operates as an action-focused connector. While there are no direct GoCardless triggers in this version, you can execute GoCardless actions using triggers from any other app in your Konnectify account (such as CRMs, accounting tools, or webforms) to initiate payments and mandates.

Actions 4

Execute billing processes automatically in GoCardless whenever triggered by changes in external software applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What authentication method does GoCardless use on Konnectify? ▾
The integration connects securely via OAuth 2.0. You will need to supply your custom Client ID and Client Secret generated within the GoCardless Developer Console to safely authorize Konnectify's access.
Which GoCardless subscription plans support API access? ▾
Generally, GoCardless enables API credentials across Standard, Plus, and Pro tiers, though sandbox creation is open to all developers. Please review your specific plan settings in GoCardless if you run into permission roadblocks.
How long do GoCardless payments take to clear? ▾
Direct Debit transactions are not instant. Clearing times typically take 3 to 5 business days, depending on the local banking scheme (such as Bacs, SEPA, or Autogiro). You can use the "Get Payment By ID" action in automated timelines to monitor clearing statuses.
Can I prevent duplicate payment collections? ▾
Yes. By structuring your workflows to log and check unique transaction references before initiating a "Create Payment" action, you can prevent accidental duplicate billing requests.
How are rate limits handled during bulk payments? ▾
The GoCardless API enforces standard rate limits to keep transaction pipelines secure. If you plan to initiate hundreds of payment actions simultaneously, consider pacing your triggers or checking GoCardless's developer dashboard for specific limit limits.
Can I connect multiple GoCardless accounts? ▾
Yes. You can authorize multiple GoCardless connections inside your Konnectify account. Use descriptive names (e.g., "GoCardless - UK Entity" and "GoCardless - Euro Entity") to keep your workflows organized.
What happens if a customer's direct debit mandate is inactive? ▾
If a mandate is cancelled, expired, or inactive, any "Create Payment" actions targeting that mandate will fail. We recommend running a "Get Mandate By ID" step beforehand to confirm active status prior to initiating payment runs.
