What is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is an analytics service that enables businesses to measure traffic and engagement across websites and applications. By structuring data around events rather than sessions, GA4 provides deep insights into user journeys and marketing attribution.

Connecting Google Analytics to Konnectify allows ops teams, marketing agencies, and developers to automate data operations. Instead of manually creating properties for new clients, configuring key events, or running ad-hoc reports, you can build automated pipelines that handle these tasks instantly in response to CRM updates, form submissions, or database changes.

API & Authentication

Secure OAuth 2.0 Authorization

Google Analytics connects to Konnectify using the secure OAuth 2.0 protocol. This ensures that Konnectify can perform administrative actions and run reports on your behalf without ever seeing or storing your Google account password. You have full control over permissions and can revoke access at any time through your Google Account security settings.

To authorize the connection, you must provide your own Client ID and Client Secret from a Google Cloud Project with the Google Analytics Admin API and Google Analytics Data API enabled. This ensures your integration runs isolated on your own developer credentials, respecting your organization's specific security policies.

 Required API Scopes

Your Google Cloud OAuth consent screen must authorize the following scopes to allow Konnectify to function correctly:
• https://www.googleapis.com/auth/analytics.readonly (to find properties, metrics, and run reports)
• https://www.googleapis.com/auth/analytics.edit (to create and modify properties, key events, and custom metrics)

For comprehensive details on rate limits, dimensions, and administrative quotas, consult the official Google Analytics Developer Documentation.

How to Connect Google Analytics to Konnectify

Prerequisites for connection:
  • A Google Cloud Console project with the Google Analytics Admin API and Google Analytics Data API enabled.
  • An OAuth Client ID and Client Secret configured in your Google Cloud Credentials tab.
  • Administrator or Editor access to the Google Analytics 4 property you wish to manage.
1

Add Google Analytics to a Workflow

Log into your Konnectify dashboard, navigate to the Workflow Builder, and add Google Analytics as an Action step in your active workflow sequence.

2

Authorize via OAuth 2.0 Credentials

When prompted, enter your Google Cloud Client ID and Client Secret. Click Authorize to open the secure Google login screen.

Select the Google account associated with your GA4 properties, review the requested read/write permissions, and confirm the authorization.

3

Configure the Action Fields

Choose the specific Google Analytics action you wish to execute (e.g., Run Report or Create Conversion Event) and map the required parameters using dynamic data from previous steps.

 Configuration Note:

When setting up reports or conversion tracking, ensure the GA4 Property IDs are formatted as numbers (e.g., 123456789) rather than your account's tracking stream IDs.

4

Test the Integration Step

Click Test Step to send a real-world test payload to your GA4 property. Verify that the property, key event, or report is handled correctly in Google Analytics without errors.

5

Activate the Workflow

Once testing completes successfully, toggle your workflow to Active. Your Google Analytics automation will now run continuously in the background.

Google Analytics Triggers

This version of the Google Analytics integration currently operates as an Action-only integration (0 triggers). While Konnectify does not actively poll Google Analytics for real-time tracking events, you can utilize any of the 13 powerful actions listed below to manipulate properties, manage tracking structures, and pull deep insights from your GA4 reporting suite dynamically.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Google Analytics authorize with Konnectify? ▾
Google Analytics uses OAuth 2.0. You must configure your own Client ID and Client Secret in your Google Cloud Console. When connecting, you will authorize Konnectify to access your analytics data securely. Konnectify never handles or stores your Google account credentials directly.
Which Google Analytics plans are supported? ▾
This integration supports standard Google Analytics 4 (GA4) properties as well as premium Google Analytics 360 properties. Note that certain reporting and API limits (such as request quotas) vary depending on your Google Analytics account tier.
Why are there no triggers available for Google Analytics? ▾
Google Analytics is structured to aggregate tracking data rather than push instant event notifications. To trigger workflows based on performance data, we recommend using the Run Report action on a scheduled run (e.g., daily or weekly) to capture and process metrics systematically.
What is the difference between "Key Events" and "Conversions"? ▾
Google recently rebranded "Conversion Events" in Google Analytics 4 to "Key Events" to better align with Google Ads terminology. The actions in this integration (e.g., Create Conversion Event) map directly to key event creation inside your GA4 property interface.
What limits apply to running Google Analytics reports? ▾
Google Analytics enforces Data API quotas on a per-property basis. If you run complex reports containing thousands of rows or execute reports too frequently, Google may temporarily throttle requests with a 429 Too Many Requests error. Check Google's API documentation for details on daily token limits.
Can I connect multiple Google Analytics properties or accounts? ▾
Yes. You can authorize multiple Google accounts or connect to different GA4 properties within Konnectify by adding separate connection instances. You can then select the corresponding connection dynamically in each workflow step.
How do I use a Measurement Protocol Secret with this integration? ▾
To stream server-side events securely, you must first use the Acknowledge User Data Collection action. Once acknowledged, execute the Create Measurement Protocol Secret action to generate an API secret token. This token must be included in your server-side payload requests to validate event delivery.
